User Management

Managing users and roles in DevZero.

User management ensures the right individuals have appropriate access to their DevZero resources, maintaining security and collaboration within your organization. By managing users and assigning them to roles, you can control permissions, invite new members, and update roles as responsibilities evolve.

Understanding User Roles

DevZero provides role-based access control to ensure that team members have the appropriate permissions based on their responsibilities. Administrators can securely and flexibly manage access to resources such as workspaces, recipes, clusters, storage volumes, and secrets. The two primary roles are:

1. Developer Role

Developers have access to resources needed for their daily tasks, but with limited administrative control. The access permissions for developers are:

  • Can create and manage their own workspaces.
  • Can access team-wide clusters and workspaces (if visibility is enabled).
  • Cannot manage user roles or organization-wide settings.
  • Cannot modify global permissions for other team members.

2. Admin Role

Admins have broader control over the organization and user management. The access permissions for admins:

  • Can invite, remove, and manage user roles.
  • Can modify team-wide permissions, including workspace and cluster visibility.
  • Can manage organization-wide settings, such as billing, security policies, and integrations.

As of now, Secrets and Environment Variables are not user-specific and are visible to the organization.
